BYO Busician Breakfast

MONTHLY BYO BUSICIAN BREAKFAST MEETING

BYO Members and guests are welcome to join this event starting at 7:30 am, a breakfast with many of your fellow Busicians in a setting where we can get to know each other and actually hear the conversation! 

Guest speaker this month is Fred Dobbs of Dobbs Stanford Corporation, the nation's largest manufacturer's representative of Pro AV equipment. 

Fred Dobbs attended 3 Universities while playing on Varsity Tennis Teams. In his senior year, he successfully destroyed his right knee, ending any further serious competition!  He kept myself in spending money in college by doing stage magic and hypnotism and selling audio and Video at retail. 

Today Fred is President of Dobbs Stanford Corporation which has become the nation’s largest Pro AV  Manufacturer’s Representative over the last 47+ years.  Over those years the company has represented JBL Professional Products, Crown Amplifiers, Shure Microphones, SoundCraft Mixers, Martin Lighting, Alesis ADAT recorders (long gone now) and more.

Along the way Fred became involved in Acoustic Physics, Electronics, AV and lighting "Stage Craft.”  He provided products to Showco, which made the very first truly high decibel rock and roll system in the world with a secret tool, before EQ was invented.  He knew Dr. Boner, who wrote the ground breaking paper “Ring Modes” which explained feedback and gave birth to modern “open mic” high SPL systems.  Fred knew Gerald Stanley of Crown, who developed the legendary DC300, the first high power transistor amplifier, and much more.

Fred has the privilege of working with much of today’s state of the art audio, video and lighting and will share with you what’s happening now and what is coming. It's a fun way to get better acquainted and learn about the business interests of other BYO members. Join us.
